All the power in the world is of little use unless you can access it easily. All Colt engines are available with a sweet, slick, five-speed manual gearbox which is a joy to use, but the Mitsubishi Colt also offers an alternative for those looking for an automatic transmission.
This is Mitsubishi's AllShift system - a six-speed Automated Manual which
gives you the best of both worlds - a fully automatic mode which is ideal for use in traffic, and a
clutchless manual mode in which you simply push the lever forward to go up the
gears, and backwards to change down.
Better still, unlike a traditional automatic,
the Allshift system returns similar fuel economy and CO2 emissions to the standard
five-speed manual transmission.
- A 6-speed manual transmission using electric motors and a sophisticated
"Twin Drum" mechanism to shift between gears.
- Superior electronic control management system controlling engine torque,
RPM, clutch, gear selection and timing.
- A conventional dry single plate clutch controlled by the use of an electronic actuator.
Mitsubishi's AMT Allshift system is designed to achieve the optimal balance of high
fuel efficiency whilst retaining all the driving features of a modern automatic transmission.

N = Neutral Position
It is only possible to start the engine while the gear lever is in the Neutral position.
The brake pedal must be pressed before selecting either "R" or "s.b"
s.b. = Stand By
Moving the gear lever from s.b. to the "+" or "-" positions enables the drive to manually
change up or down through the gears
A = Automatic
Moving the gear lever from s.b. to the A position enables the driver to select the fully automatic mode.
