Text: Introducing The New Lancer Prototype S

The Lancer Prototype-S was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and there's no doubt it was the star of the show.

Following the successful launch of the iconic Lancer Evolution X, Mitsubishi has once again whetted the appetites of enthusiastic drivers everywhere with this stunning new model.

The production model of this car is planned to feature a dual valve, variable valve timing two litre turbo engine, producing 240PS. This will be mated to Mitsubishi's outstanding new 6 speed Twin Clutch Sports Shift Transmission, which has already received critical acclaim in the new Lancer Evolution X. The TC-SST transmission allows the driver to select between manual mode using a paddle shift mechanism, semi-auto mode, or full auto mode. It also comes with two driving modes; normal and sport to cover every type of desired driving style.

The performance that this engine and transmission combination produces is transferred to the road via the legendary Mitsubishi four wheel drive system, incorporating Active Yaw Control and an Active Centre Differential.

There is no doubt that this is going to be the hottest hot hatch around.

Concept-cX features Mitsubishi’s Twin Clutch SST technology offering an automated manual transmission combining the economy and dynamic driving of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic gearbox. Its on road abilities are further enhanced by Mitsubishi’s sophisticated AWC (All Wheel Control) 4WD system. Compact, low, wide, sitting on a long wheel base and wide tracks, Concept-cX offers passenger car-like stance and dynamics.

Concept-cX made its debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Text: Mitsubishi Innovative Electric Vehicle
Driving pleasure, safety, and environment-friendliness are the goals for the near future that Mitsubishi Motors strives for as a manufacturer. i-EV is a research vehicle filled with Mitsubishi Motors’ innovative technologies including high-capacity lithium-ion batteries and a high performance compact motor to name but a few.

In conjunction with power companies, Mitsubishi Motors has been conducting joint research programs and fleet monitoring tests using the i-EV , collecting field test data to improve the EV for future commercial application.

Based in the i’s rear-midship layout platform, i-EV replaces the conventional engine and fuel tank with a lithium-ion battery system, motor, inverter and other EV components. i-EV ensures ample cabin space for up to 4 passengers, along with a good size luggage compartment in the rear. The installation of batteries under the floor lowers the centre of gravity, providing a more stable and dynamic drive. The target range with a single charge was 160km for fleet test vehicles in 2007.

i-EV can be charged in several different ways: the Household Charger System for charging at home or a parking lot and the Quick Charger System for speedy charging. The Household Charger System will charge the i-EV from either a 100V or 200V ordinary plug located on the right side of the vehicle. Using less expensive midnight power, i-EV can be charged economically in as little as 7 hours on a 200V system.

With the Quick Charger System, i-EV could be charged via a Quick Charger plug located on the left side of the vehicle. Using a 3-phase 200V 50kW Quick Charger System, i-EV could be charged to 80% peak in as little as 30 minutes.
